When people talk about spring cleaning, they usually talk about their home, but small business expert Steve Strauss says that businesses can benefit from spring cleaning, as well. As the weather gets warmer, it might be time to take a look at what you can do to make your office ready for spring going forward into the rest of the year.
Find out all of the services your commercial cleaners offer and use them to your full advantage, then tackle these things to make everything feel more clean and fresh!
De-Clutter
Clutter is the enemy of efficiency. If there’s clutter in your office, it makes things much harder to find when needed. It can even be a little depressing and feel overwhelming when you look at an extremely cluttered area.
Use this time of spring cleaning to tackle the scariest piles of clutter in your business. Is it a workroom? A storage closet? Or your own desk? Whatever it is, jump right in and plan to get that area finished in a single day. Remember as you go:
- Throw away or recycle anything you no longer need.
- If you haven’t set up a system for organization, now is the time! Keep like items together to make everything easier to find.
- Get into the habit of putting things back where they belong when you finish with them to keep things in order.
Add Something New
Anything new and fresh can give everyone in your office a boost: you, your employees, and your customers will all be positively affected by something different for the spring.
It doesn’t have to be much to be effective. For instance, some new, affordable furniture can liven up a space, and so can some paint. Paint a room, paint a wall, paint a door or some furniture—whatever you can squeeze in, new color can breathe new life. Even just adding new artwork can help make a space feel new.
As spring moves in, go ahead and freshen up your office. You’ll be glad you did!
