If you’re at all familiar with Colonial Commercial Cleaning, you know that we have provided commercial cleaning and janitorial services in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. for more than 10 years.

In that time, we have always prioritized the health and safety of our clients and employees. In this new era of COVID-19, we have had to take extra steps to provide extra levels of safety for our company, our clients, and our community.

Today, we’re going to highlight some of the specific actions we have taken in response to coronavirus that have been recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Personal Protective Equipment for All Colonial Employees

In addition to the superior cleaning products and protocols we utilize, one of our greatest defenses against the spread of COVID-19 is the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all Colonial Commercial Cleaning employees.

Here are just some of the required safety measures required of every employee for every facility we serve:

Face Masks: We have all heard about the effectiveness of face masks when it comes to decreasing the spread of COVID-19. Colonial Commercial Cleaning requires the use of face coverings that meet or exceed CDC standards and even had custom coverings created with the company logo so that employees could be more easily recognized and protected.

Gloves: To prevent the spread of germs and to reduce the likelihood of cross contamination, gloves are required of all employees during all phases of the cleaning process. Even light cleaning tasks like dusting now require gloves.

Shoe Coverings: Colonial has always provided shoe coverings for specific situations and locations such as data centers and sensitive locations. Currently, shoe coverings are required for all Colonial employees to reduce the introduction of germs and to prevent cross contamination.

Protective Gowns: Finally, Colonial has taken the step to require full protective gowns be worn by all employees at every location. The nature of our work is to touch every surface and thoroughly clean and disinfect it. This can lead to some splashes, overspray, incidental contact and other scenarios where germs could move from surfaces to employee clothing.

By fully covering our employees, with the PPE discussed above, we are protecting them and our clients at the highest level we can.

Until the threat of coronavirus is behind us, all of these measures, and any new recommendations by the CDC, will be in place.
